>Hi, I was just curious as to how old you were. This seems to factor in if you are seriously considering surgery. I'm still in college and have not had sex yet. However, I realized that I had a phimotic ring after browsing this site and was afraid that if I had sex, it would be really painful. I decided to do something about it. I tried the simple stretching technique, just holding out the skin for about a minute in the shower and whenever I had the privacy, a few times a day. The skin will start to feel a little painful because it is out of its ordinary shape. After about a week though, the skin recovered and became much more elastic. I never had any scarring or bleeding, there should not be any if you do it correctly. I should admit that I masturbated a lot during that time period. I guess I was trying out new things and trying to see if the stretching was working. At first, it was still painful if I tried to retract the skin and it would actually get stuck, constricting the shaft directly below the glans. However, after a few days, the pain went away and to my pleasant surprise (I didn't even realize it at the time probably because I was enjoying it too much!), the skin would retract fully without any grief. The skin ridges up under the head but I don't mind that, it seems that some guys will be able to pull it all the way down and others will just have a clump of skin under the glans. However, the important thing is I could finally slide the foreskin up and down and it even retracts by itself now when I have an erection. The one thing I stressed before and I'll say again is that you MUST stretch the area that is actually causing the problem. For myself the entire foreskin wasn't constrictive, it was actually just a single band of skin about half a centimeter away from the tip on the inside of the skin. It was a little bit different in color (darker). I don't know how it happened, maybe a scar from injury or something. I got hit a lot in the groin by basketballs quite a lot just playing with my friends.
>Anyway, the point is to find out where the phimotic ring is and stretch that part. You may have to pull the foreskin down a bit and pull on the more sensitive skin inside. During this time, you'll at least have an excuse to masturbate more often. I feel this is the natural way for your body to figure how elastic the skin actually needs to be in over to fit over your shaft without pain. After a few weeks of stretching, if you still do not make progress, you can try to insert some very small smooth object into the tip of the foreskin and keep it there while you sleep. You may have to use tape if it doesn't stay hold within the area you want to stretch. I understand it sounds kinda bizzare, putting tape on your penis, but hey if one week of doing something crazy can make the rest of your life so much easier and less stressful, then I say why the hell not. I'm sure glad I stretched and didn't have to go under the knife. Phew!
>Good Luck and be persistent! If many of us can do it, so can you.

I hope this wasn't too much information for you. I'm just trying to deter you from surgery is all. If you really want to do it, we can't stop you. But at least consider less drastic solutions before you go all the way. If you want to try stretching, the betamethasone cream might help. I don't know, I never used it.
As to the cause of your phimosis, it is most likely a bacterial infection (one you probably didn't even realize you had, most of us don't). Your body fights it and during the process, it must cause the skin to harden and lose it's normal elasticity. The thing to keep in mind though is, skin anywhere on your body is by default, stretchable. Maybe it won't stretch as much as it did previously but you can get it to the point where it you can once again retract it over the glans and rest on the shaft without pain.
Once again, take care and good luck.
