>It's not too far off to describe the penis as a sensitive blood-balloon. That is, when it gets erect, it fills with blood just like a balloon fills with air. You get numerous prominent veins because they develop to accomodate the necessary blood flow for this, and for removing the blood after erection.But I don't think the veins that are appearing are those type of veins, I could be wrong, but I have one vein that is much thicker and is more of a blue green colour that I think is the type of vein you're talking about. The other veins are more purple in colour and are the ones I'm worried about because they look awful, almost like a stem of a leaf if that makes sense.
