Don't torment yourself and go to a doctor and do exactly what he tells you. Doctors are quite often wring and don't know much, but none of the regulars on this site have had "sudden" phimosis. You'll want to rely on doctors, and in order to correct their stupidity/ignorance, see not one but a few of them and follow the majority opinion. Out of 3 doctors I bet on average 1 on them will be able to come up with something clever.
Try to find articles on the Internet about "sudden" phimosis. I'll post links if I find anything (that's what I do - I find tricky stuff on the Internet)
