Ripped Frenulum

Written by GV at 16 Sep 2004 18:02:13:

I'd never heard of frenulum breve before today, but having done some net research today feel equally surprised and enlightened.

The reason behind my sudden interest is that mine tore last night during intercourse and bled so profusely that I needed to go to hospital to be glued up to halt the bleeding. The initial bleeding from the ripped cappiliaries was a rather disconcerting fine spray that did quite a good job of redecorating the bathroom. The bleeding lessened but didn't actually stop, hence the need for a few dabs of glue.

So, apart from feeling sore and having assured my young lady - who was a bit put out by the incident, unsurprisingly - that it wasn't any fault of hers I'm more or less back to normal. With the exception of the small flap of skin that now protrudes from my glans rather untidily...

From the various articles and messages I've read it sounds like I did have a slight case of frenulum breve. My foreskin was able to retract fully from the glans, but it did feel rather tight. (How would I have known this was anything other than "normal", I had no comparison about how tight it should feel!) I've had an active sex life for the past 18 or so years and things function pretty much as designed, so again I hadn't given consideration to the possibility of problems. Now however, some of the things I've read today sound a little familiar - specifically finding condoms rather uncomfortable, and certain positions (where the frenulum would have been pulled tighter) would have a tendency to bring me to ejaculation much quicker than others.

My current concern/question now is... what of the future?

Will having suffered this tear now mean that my foreskin is freer than before and therefore be considered "a good thing"?

With the frenulum now being the small loose flap affect the sensation I have during intercourse? (The comparisons to it being the male equivalent of the G-spot do make be rather concerned about having damaged it!)

And I'm also rather worried that I'm going to be prone to recurrences of the injury.

Frankly I'm astonished that something that seems to be an occurence which while possibly not common, seems to be far from uncommon too, remains such an "underground" topic. Had I known anything about this I might well have had an incision years ago.

Thanks in advance for help/replies.
