Well, it still should not be a problem, so long as it is not blocking the hole (and you would have exploded by now if it was blocked :-O ) Are you saying it comes within about an eighth or a quarter of an inch of the hole (less than a centimeter if you aren't from the USA), or that it actually surrounds the hole to a certain extent.
