>OK, I finally went to a urologist today to see about a circumcision. My dad's a doctor and I found this guy through him so I suppose he's OK! Anyway, he's booked me in to do the procedure in ten days which is nerveracking but also kind of exciting since I'm sick of having a phimosis problem and I just want to get it over with. The only thing is, he said it'll be done under a general - I was surprised because in my research it seems most adults get it done under a local (my Dad thought there's no way you'd want this kind of thing done under a local though!!), I was just wondering if there is anything bad about this. Also, he said he'd cut to just behind the glans which sounded OK at the time but then I was thinking I don't want to have any skin on the glans when flaccid and I'm wondering whether after a while stretching of the skin would cause some overhang......so should I get him to take more off than he probably normally would? Are there any risks to think about with this such as needing to leave enough skin so erections are not inhibited??
It seems odd to me that you say your concern is relief of phimosis, which sould be done by stretching, dorsal slit or minimal circumcision (sometimes called partial), and yet you are already certain you want to have every possible bit of loose skin removed. I strongly suggest you consider the basis for your thoughts. It appears that you have not just a desire for the glans to be accessible, as the procedures I have named would do, but some preoccupation with a permanently and totally bared glans. Particularly since this is an unnatural state, you should resolve first the basis for this desire to remove the slightest bit of 'give'
