Hi Gary,
Halfclip has given you very sound advice which I would like to endorse. Remember above all that this is YOUR penis we are talking about and it is up to YOU AS AN ADULT to decide where any cuts are made. This is not an RIC your surgeon is performing and with an adult the cosmetic result is far more relevant.
Having a general anaesthetic for a circumcision is like using a sledge hammer to crack a walnut. There is absolutely no need for this. As a man who has experienced it, I would have to say your dad has got that wrong, no disrespect intended. The most uncomfortable part of the procedure comes about a week after when the stitches are beginning to stick into the surrounding skin and there is no anaesthetic that can help with that. The best circumcisers welcome input from their patients during the procedure as they realise pleasing them is of utmost importance. My own surgeon invited me to take a look at what he was about to cut and made adjustments three times before finally cutting.
The worst part of what your doctor suggested is cutting you just behind the glans. This means removing most or all of the inner foreskin. My surgeon and I believe this is unadvisable. The inner foreskin is far more 'erotic' than outer skin and to lose it can never be clever from a sexual point of view. This is why so many men having adult circumcisions opt for a high cut and this is the only type I would recommend. If I were you, I would run from any doctor who suggested what yours did. Doctors do not always know best where sex is concerned. Be careful!
It sounds to me like your urologist has made too many of the decisions regarding your circumcision. I wonder whether he would be prepared to listen to what YOU wanted?
Best of luck with it whatever you decide.
