Hi Anthony,

My advice would be to go ahead with the circumcision. It is not as bad as you think it will be. It is uncomfortable to start with especially for guys who have phimosis whose glans are not used to being exposed, but that will settle down. I had it done 8 months ago - not for phimosis.

Do NOT under any consideration have a dorsal slit. That is the most unattractive procedure in surgery and really should be discontinued. Yes, complications can occur after circumcision but they are rare. Recovery will NOT, however take 2-3 days like your GP suggests. That is such a ridiculous statement! It is more in the region of 4-6 weeks as we 'abnormal members of the population' suggest. Truth is, he has not had an adult circumcision and I have. The choice of who to believe is yours!

If after 9 years of stretching you have not had any joy with achieving what you want for your penis, you should go for the surgery, but find a doctor who is prepared to circumcise you the way you want and not in any manner that he may see fit. Cosmetic appearance is a vital consideration. Circumcision and frenoplasty should sort your problems out in one go.

I do not believe in routine infant circumcision as I believe everyone should have a choice in this most delicate matter. I know there are many who claim to have suffered loss of sensitivity as a result, but that has not yet been my experience. I would certainly say it has enhanced my sexual function!

All the best and hope hearing from one successfully circumcised adult has helped.
