As an answer to: Full Circ in 7 weeks.........questions please written by Andy at 25 Jan 2005 15:59:15:

Guess i'm not too late posting some experience here as well since your circ is in May. will attempt to answer your questions in no particular order. I had my circ under general anaestatic 5 weeks ago and i must say that the urologist did a very very good job. Of course it cost a little more. i actually requested for it to be done under local but he said that the result would be better under general where the patient would not move that much during the procedure. Plus, hygiene control in the OT (rather than clinic) is much better. i settled for general cause i'm not prepared to take any risk of getting an infection on the most delicate part of my body anatomy. the cosmetic outcome of the procedure must not at all be compromised. unless you have a know allergy to certain kinds of anaestatic.

i am not as endowed as you are - 4 inch when flaccid and just reaching 7 inch when fully erect. i think the placement of scar is not so much an issue here but more skin should be left to accomodate the expansion for your penis. You decide how high and how much to remove base on your comfort. removal of too much skin may cause painful erections and it may also began to pull on the skin of your scrotum at the base of your penis as you gain. all that taken care of, it would still very much be your choice as you may want to leave more skin for masturbation / etc. personally, i went for a very tight but low circumcision with the scar placed about an inch behind my glans. i have very limited movement ( i don't masturbate all that much) of skin even when flaccid and like i said, i think the urologist did a very good job as my penis comes into perfect dimension with a very clean and neat look when its fully erect (this is think is an important consideration). Your may need to spend a bit more time examining your penis with different placement of your foreskin by moving it along the shaft (also when you are hard) and decide with the doctor performing the procedure.

Post operative experience:
1. i took a whole week off from work and checked into a hotel right after my circumcision. basically, i went on nude almost the entire time and i think that facilitated quicker healing. i wore my soccer shorts (those with a layer of support on the inside - don't really know what you call them) when i need to leave my room for fresh air and they gave me good comfort. i was able to walk normal and put on my briefs on the third day (the bandage came off before i left the hospital). you may want to consider doing the same.
3. was told not to wash my penis on the first day (to keep it dry if possible) that was because i had the bandage taken off before leaving the hospital. kept my member dry while i took my shower (don't ask me how). but i did cleaned up from all the mess (blood stain from the cutting)with warm towel. started gently washing on the 2nd day.
2. nocturnal erection. I had only 1 bad one - on the second night where i think i got very hard (was not conscious of it as i was deep asleep) but awoke in pain and found myself bleeding a little. just gently pressed on the bleeding part of the wound with gauze/tissue and wait a while for it to stop. your doctor may suggest anti-erection pills but i don't think they are necessary. stitches are strong enough to keep the skin in place. (you may opt to sleep on your side rather than lying on your back. but for me it was effective to expose myself to cold condition in the room - i had the air-conditioner full blast and without covering over me - my habit to sleep nude)
3. i was able to resume my work the following week. no discomfort whatsoever. back to my swimming & skinny dipping in 4 weeks. i don't remember my penis looking awful throughout accept for some swelling. Looked normal again after 2 weeks. it's exactly 5 weeks now and i am back into active sports (soccer & basketball). guess you'll be able to gauge how much you can do as you assess the discomfort as you progress.

Hope i have been helpful in someways. all the best to you and please do update after your op. But i can't sign off without congratulating you for making this important decision. i made mine and i am glad.
