After the surgery, there could be a bit (or in my case a helluva lot) of lymphatic fluid oozing from the wound. A minipad would soak up the moisture and keep the wound dry during this phase. I didin't actually use this myself but after I was all healed I saw it suggested on another forum and recognised how it could have made things a lot more comfortable for me. The pad also adds a bit of protection to the delicate area which it most certainly will be for a while.
What was the name of the kind of bandages that don't stick?
They are called Melolin bandages (at least in the UK). Can't recommend them too highly!
