I am no expert here - my Circ is not due for another 3 weeks, but I would suggest that gauze is best kept in use until such time that there is no bleeding or weeping of the wound. Obviously, the Gauze is to prevent your wound sticking to things. I have been advised to use Vaseline as well as gauze - to both prevent sticking, and also to keep the otherwise scratchy stitches soft and supple. Dont try and rush recovery pal - 5 days isnt so long?!
