As an answer to: A few questions. written by Phil at 22 Mar 2005 14:25:38:

Hi Phil,

I wouldn't advise giving up on stretching completely, having been down your route already. Visit your doctor and ask to be prescribed Betamethasone cream. This is a steroid, only a little bit will need to be applied and it may aide you through your stretching. If you were able to retract prior to being the age of fifteen, unlike myself, then it is likely that the skin may not have tightened to the stage where it cannot become retractable. I would advise at least consulting your physician about the cream and giving it a try for a couple of months.

And, if after a couple of months things aren't going well, I would advise going back to your physician and suggesting that you be circumcised. If it is deemed medically necessary, pending where you live, the procedure will come free of charge or with significant (75% even) discount. He will likely refer you to a urologist and it can be carried on from there.

Don't worry about what your parents think. Take the advice from me, also 18, who had to go through the same thing. It is likely that you will need your parents through this. They will be able to assist you with supplies, transportation, and possibly support the costs. They had the option of doing it for you when you were born, and so it is nothing new to them. It may be humiliating prior to the fact, but believe me, after you're out of the operating room you won't even care.

The procedure itself is not a very big deal. Twenty minutes, plus recovery pending the anesthesia you are given. It will be relatively painless afterward, but sensitivity; swelling; and risk of infection will prevent you from being mobile. I had mine last Wednesday and I felt absolutely great come Monday.

Again though, circumcision should be your final resort, if you have no discharge or scar tissue go with the betamethasone first! It's easiar.

>Hi there.
>I'm 17 years old and have had phimosis since I was 15. I have tried stretching which hasn't worked for me, maybe I havn't tried hard enough with it. Anyway I was wondering how old you have to be to have a circumcision without the consent of your parents, I presume it is 18? Also if that is the case I want to go ahead with the circumcision but something that concerns me is will the new approach to masturbating with a circ'd penis be a traumatic experience? I can't imagine masturbating without foreskin..
>Also I have developed many veins on my penis over the last few years, maybe because of the phimosis I'm not sure. Is this cureable? I just want my penis back to the way it was.
>Many thanks in advance for any info.
