I visted the doctor today, everything is just fine. The stitches are not an issue because as you've pointed out the two skins are connected. The incision line is looking (very) good and minus the swolen underside (fluids I'll assume) I'm very pleased with its progress. Now that everything is smooth, my next visit to a doctor will be with my surgeon for the follow-up in two weeks.
The tissue is working much better than the gauze now also. The gauze understandably was a better choice for the first couple of days though. But now that it is healing more vastly, the tissue is much easiar to clean off and just as well is easiar to replace.

>In short, yes. Each person disolves stitches at a different rate. As long as the two skins are connecting you should be OK.
