Written by Ted at 18 Apr 2005 02:42:37: Chemical burn to glans (again), with fraenum injury.
Hello, everyone.
I contributed to this Forum several times in the past, I've no idea under what name, I can't seem to find them among the Archived posts.
My problem was originally that the tip of my glans, and the mouth of my foreskin, came however briefly into contact with the inner surface of the lavatory bowl at home while, unbeknownst to me, it was covered in raw bleach. Although there was very little irritation, if any, at the time, in the following days the affected area became bright pink, swollen, and extremely painful. Retraction of the foreskin became increasingly painful - agony, in fact - until, what with the pain and the swelling, all retraction became impossible. An anti-inflammatory cream and daily washings with a solution of warm water and a proprietary brand of antiseptic (Dettol) were eventually to prove efficacious: although the daily ordeal of retracting in order to wash underneath the prepuce was, in terms of tearjerking pain, quite the closest thing imaginable to being castrated. The rim or mouth of the prepuce was laterally scored with raw red fissures which superficially closed each evening, only to be reopened in the next day's ablutions.
When the area finally healed, the condition of the penis was subtly altered. During erection, the penis felt as if it were housed in a skin now slightly too small for it; a sensation still experienced. Smegma production abruptly ceased, the penis lost its pungent adult quality and returned approximately to the adonyne sushi and comparative odourlessness of late childhood; nor has it returned, which causes me no loss, particularly. Strangely, the inflammation, flooding the penis with blood, meant that sex, while impossible, was always in my thoughts, and despite the pain had felt the greatest necessity to masturbate, despite the downward distortion of my erection. Remarkably, the fraenum, which had in the trauma contracted dreadfully, now split in two places and stretched so as to approximate its full extent from before injury.
However, the principal grief of the condition was that the whole area, from the tip of my glans to the apron of my foreskin, became very dry. The natural oils of my skin had been excised, imparting the sensory impression that I was enveloped in a crocodileskin condom.
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula has been somewhat helpful in controlling the symptoms of dryness, but after a few minutes' masturbatory or sexual stimulation the upper surface of the penis quickly becomes as dry as a saltpan and covered in white flakes of dead skin.
Does anyone have advice to help deal with this problem?
[P.S., To make matters not only worse but indeed approaching the ridiculous, this same injury has now happened I would imagine three or four times in as many years. Most recently, the accumulative shrinkage of the combined injuries brought me to fear I would indeed have to be circumcised, an opinion shared by my doctor. What's more, the unlikely recurrence of the mishap had begun to look as if I myself were doing this deliberately.
The cause of the accidents was my mother, with whom, as my invalid father's carer, I am compelled to live. I have only recently convinced her to discontinue her habit of spreading undilute bleach under the rim of the lavatory bowl and leaving it there without warning, which over the course of the past few years has been the cause of so much personal anguish to me, which she has obviously ill-understood. I know, I know. Life is dropping me hints :)]
