Go to the pharmacy and get extra strength tooth ache "medecine". It is 20% benzocaine. You can also find it as ingrown nail relief (Onyxol) which is essentially the same thing (20% benzocaine). The tooth one is available in gel and liquid. Liquid sinks in faster, but some bottles may not have an applicator/brush.

You can also get Solarcaine spray. It is also benzocaine, but much less potent. (I think only 5%).

Before you get dressed, you apply this to your glans and this will get you through an hour without much discomfort.

If you've never been able to uncover your glans, it may be very sensitive initially, but it will go away.

Also, you are likely to have bandages for first few days, and that will hide the glans from direct rubbing.

Once bandages are off, you can simply roll toilet paper around your glans/penis and tape it with just a bit of scotch tape. This will also isolate your glans from direct rubbing.

Once your stitches are you, try to wear tighter fitting underwear and that will greatly reduce any friction. While you have stitches on, you need to experiment which is more comfortable for you.

As far as going to work, it shouldn't be a problem. Wear loose pants. Taking your mind off the penis is the best way to get it to heal. If you stay at home, you'll just think about it and want to see your new dick every 5 minutes because you'll have nothing else to do :-)
