Hey Floyd,

If you have the option, definately take a week or two out my friend. This surgery affects everyone differently. James had a rough time to start, but then cleared up really well - he was firing on all cylinders within a fortnight. In my case, things were a little slower, with my wound taking just over 4 weeks to close. I took 2 weeks off work, and needed all of that time. I did try to carry on as normal and ended up with a bleed. Not nice. Damian was careful, but had bad swelling and popped stitches - and I remember James also had bad swelling. My point is, if you can rest up at home, that really is best. If you can work from home, do so. Make sure you get some Melolin dressings. That's pretty much all you need - as per the Gospel according to Damian! You will almost certinly not need any pain relief. AS James will also testify, this thing doesnt have to be a big deal. Take it easy for the first few weeks, use the correct dressing, keep it clean, and all will heal without any drama. If you try to rush things, you may delay healing and may create problems for yourself. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
