I can get it most of the way down the glans, and recently feel that, while flacid, I could get it over the 'edge' (not sure of the name) quite easily, but paraphimosis sounds a little scary. Also on the times that I have got it this far, either the glans or foreskin seem to get quite dry, meaning the foreskin seems to stick more on the way down and is quite difficult to retract until it becomes slightly moist again.

It sounds as though you have a slight tightness of the foreskin. If there are no other processes causing further tightening, then exercises to make it grow wider should do the trick fairly quickly. Those exercises are to stretch it and hold it the way you want it to go - the skin will be stilulated to grow that way. Best to pull outward rather than rely on pulling down the shaft. The frenulum is supposed to come to a point just a tiny difference form the meatus. I don't even know if there are variations where it is further from the meatus, but what you describe is normal. It gets white when you stretch it because you are squeezing the blood out - you can do the same thing with other parts of the body (at least those that are not heavily pigmented, either permanently or by tanning).
The changes in color around the meatus in the shower do not make me think of BXO, just because I don't have the impression that rapidly variable color is typical of BXO. This is no substitute for a professional assessment. Please make sure you are not doing things that could damage the pinker areas or encourage infections - do not wash with soap or use any scents, deodorants, antibacterials, etc. on the glans or inner foreskin. Only clear water is needed. Anything else can damage the skin and encourage infections, most notably yeast. A good rinse will eliminate anything that ought to be removed.
