The best thing you could possibly do is not be informed, if you want me to be honest with you. Don't even set expectations or think about it, go through with the procedure, when it is over and done with you will be glad. In a weeks after the fact, it will be a thing of the past that you won't even think about anymore.
You need gauze or dressings for the first five days or so. Then I'd recommend switching to tissue paper to avoid having any fabric sticking to the wound (resulting in skin healing over it). You need adhesive tape. You'll need polysporin ointment. You'll need whatever the doctor prescribes.
It's all easy, easy stuff. Nothing to be worried about. The procedural part is actually a lot of fun. It's one of those "is that it?" type feelings afterward. Really, given the overall definition of 'circumcision' I expected the most excruciating disaster of pain that I'd ever be experiencing in my life. Little did I know, removing the foreskin was more relieving than anything, it was like the actual incision didn't even exist, I didn't feel a thing. What you will feel after the procedure is what you feel right now, in greater volume.
Express your concern to your doctor, if you are worried, that you don't want the frenulum cut. If it's just behind the ridge like you say, I wouldn't expect it to be cut anyway. Mine wasn't. But I also didn't discuss it with my doctor -- so I didn't have any expectations, I sort of accepted my outcome before any of it happened.
Have fun.
>june 24th is the day i'm going to get circumcised, and i'm having some concerns. first, i'm just plain afraid - i dont see how you couldnt be. but i think my fear stems more from my conversation with my doctor/surgeon. he is a great person and probably an outstanding surgeon, but i've failed to ask him some key questions. understand first, that my understanding of circumcision is pretty minimal. the frenulum. i know what it is, what it does, etc. is it always removed during circumcision? if not, does it just hang there flapping about? i got the impression from my doctor that my circumcision would not be high and tight or whatever the ultra invasive form is, but that the remainder of the foreskin would rest behind the corona (?) or the head of the penis. for lack of a better understanding: is this "good"?
>also, what kind of drugs/medicine/materials do i need after the surgery, besides of course lots of DVD's and my bed.
