Hey 17 Circ,
I have to tell you - when it was my turn, the two people who had the most to say were James and Damian - but in each case their experience was different. For James, things were very good, although he did have some bad swelling, and I am not sure he was so mad about the spinal anaestetic - he can tell you otherwise. Generally, Damian's advice especially re Melolin dressings was spot on for me. I ditched the hospital dressing as soon as I got home as I needed a pee and the damned thing was not going back on - I used the dressings the hospital gave me until they ran out (day 3) and then immediatley switched to melolin dressings -and thats all. No tape, no rolls of stuff, no toilet paper, just a simple melolin dressing tucked into my firm fitting underpants. I did have a small bleed on day 4, but it was just a small one, and things improved day by day. I stopped using dressings when they stayed clean overnight. By 3.5 weeks, my wound finally closed completely. Today, after 7 weeks, everything is just fine apart from a lumpy scar that will in time flatten out. Anway, The Gospal according to Damian was spot on for me.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on - many people can benefit by hearing about your experiences and knowledge.
Best regards,
Andy
