There can be little doubt that the presence of a foreskin compromises penile hygiene and uncut guys must retract and wash on a daily basis.

Tom to answer your question, if your foreskin is not strangling the glans which it obviously is not or you would have been in agony, there is nothing to worry about. It does sound like you have a very short foreskin and there are many men who actually 'train' their foreskins to do what yours seems to have done naturally. Just be sure to pull it back along the shaft when you shower to clean the folds of skin bunching behind the head. Smegma can still build up in there. You should be able to do this even when you are erect.
