Hi Ted,

I'm sure you know this but it is important to remember that four weeks is far too soon to 'judge' many aspect of the outcome of an adult circumcision. The bulging ring you are seeing at the moment is due to lymphatic fluid that has accumulated under the inner foreskin. Circumcision completely disrupts the lymphatic system of the penis and it can take months for this to re-plumb itself. I'd say it took four months with me so be prepared for swelling to be around for a while yet.

As for the vertical lines where the stitches were, I can assure you these will fade, but again you need to think more long term than perhaps you were anticipating. I've been told it takes two years for an adult circumcision to produce its final result and although I did not want to believe it, I now know that the scar really takes a very long time to settle.

Don't panic! I'd say most adult circumcisions look pretty terrible at the four week mark. When people speak of the healing of the circumcision taking a few weeks, they are really referring to the closure of the wound. Thorough healing and resolution of the scar require a good deal of patience. As far as 'service' is concerned, I'm sure you can already do everything the wee guy was designed to do!

All the best.
