>What I find funny is that they gave you a general anesthetic for such a simple operation. Where are you located ? (which country). Normally, you'd think only USA hospitals would do this since they rake in more money from insurance companies, but elsewhere, there is really no incentive to do general anesthetics.

I was given a painkiller pill, told to take another at 10pm, given a leaflet on aftercare, some prescription paracetamol & codiene & discharged about 7.30pm.

>>Hi Halfclip,I am in UK. I did originally ask about having a Local Anaesthetic as I had read one of your previous postings , regarding an opinion that surgeons who may not want to do what the patient had requested, would prefer to give them a GA so they can carry out what they want to do undisturbed. So my surgeon's reply concerned me initially, but he said that he always gives GA as a Local doesn't always fully anaesthetise the area. I think that's likely to be true as I have read accounts on this forum & elsewhere of anaesthetics wearing off before the procedure was completed, I would imagine they were Local. I have also read of someone else who had a GA in UK (in addition to Andy who replied here) and he said that GA was the norm where he came from, so it didn't seem too unusual for me to have a GA, maybe it is down to each individual surgeon's preference.
Regarding whether I actually did end up with a partial or a full circ; well, I think it's kind of somewhere in between! I don't exactly know where a Partial ends & a Full starts, as it were! (I had it about 8 weeks ago but have been away from my computer for long periods & got a bit behind with my postings here). It is exactly as one of your previous replies to one of my postings had suggested it would need to be (given my severe BXO), that is - more than the most minimal of skin removal which a 'normal' Partial would entail. I think in reality I expected it to end up like that as I knew how bad my BXO was, even though I went in wanting a partial. My main reasons for wanting a partial initially were for masturbation purposes & worries about glans hypersensitivity. Both of those worries were completely unfounded, I have since discovered. Incidentally, I've healed perfectly & am very fond of my new dick!! I'll add more details in further postings soon.
Cheers for the help yourself & your board have supplied to me & everyone else on these pages. Reading them all has been so helpful that I only ever had to ask one question myself. - Stef.
