The answer to this is plain and simple.

Forcing your son's foreskin to retract at an early age can be very damaging. This is because there are still lesions connecting it to the glans.

You can save yourself the grief by resting assured that, in almost all cases, his foreskin will seperate from the glans and stretch to its retractable state come puberty. As he gets a little older, perhaps in the months leading up to it, you may wish to have this discussion with your child regarding proper hygiene and occasional tugging or something to accomodate safe results. This guidance may sound silly -- but it is the advice that I did not have that well could have saved me from having surgery later on.

>My son is 6 1/2 and he had normal retraction at around 3. For a month or so now he has been competely tight and cannot retract his skin at all. The doc says these are adhesions and we could try steroid creams. If we just wait it out and don't use the steroid cream, will the skin eventually retract once again?
