3 weeks would probably be too early to fully recover from the sensitivity. i had my foreskin retracted almost a year before going for my circ - even that required some time to adjust after the circ. i dun think boxers will help cause that allows a lot of rubbing against the material as you move about. i would think a fairly tight but soft brief to hold it down would be good.

the open 'gap' happened to me as well, to which my urologist said was normal. give it a another 2-3 weeks and i think it'll be fine. however, the portion of the 'gap' that closed up later will look redder would probably take slightly a longer time to recover from sensitivity. but, nothing to worry about.
