All,
Having read many questions lately, I thought I would offer up my personal experience for the benefit of the many blokes who still ¡§Fear¡¨ a Circumcism. Sorry it is such a long entry!
I started off 2 years ago at the age of 39 with a new Wife, and a massive increase in sexual activity. After several weeks of intense rumpy pumpy, I found I had a small tear in my Frenulum. It would heal, but then easily tear. The tear became a way of life - tearing, healing - but whilst all this was happening, it was painful and I wasn¡¦t washing properly - it was too sore.
One day, I decided to see the doctor as it was clearly not going to heal itself as I thought it eventually would. He told me that I needed to see a Urologist about the tear, and that by the way, I had picked up Balanitis probably as a result of the poor hygiene. He gave me some cream. So the Balanitis appears to ease until I think it has stopped, and so stop using the cream, meanwhile, a tight hard ring of scar tissue slowly spreads around my end, about 2 centimetres below the glans. Back to the Doc, who suggests Phimosis, and chases the Urologist appointment.
When I eventually get to the Urologist - he agrees with the Docs diagnosis and suggests a Frenuloplasty to fix the Frenulum tear and that I should not worry too much about the Phimosis as I still had a fully retractable and mobile foreskin. So the Frenulplasty goes ahead in April 2004, and within 5 days, I am rushed back to Hospital by Ambulance with an Arterial bleed. I had a bath, some stitches gave way, and I lost several pints of blood - scary!!!!
Well I recover, and after 6 Months wonder why my scarring has all gone, but my Glans are turning white, and why my Glans are always painful after sex.......back to the GP - back to the Urologist - Its BXO he says, only cure is to take the foreskin off! Well after the bleed back in April, my first thoughts were "on yer bike mate!". Having thought about it and read tons, I decided that the Circ was the only route available to me. I had tried stretching and creams along the way, but nothing much had helped.
April 2005, off it came! Today, 5 months later - the new Penis looks and feels great, and most importantly, works just as good as it ever did. There was NO loss of sensitivity or function. The procedure was NOT a big deal - it was sore, but not painful - and it healed pretty quickly. I now have no pain, soreness or discomfort. My Penis looks and feels really great. I have none of the problems with my Glans rubbing, and my Wife loves the new sensation, especially orally ļ Start to finish, the whole thing has taken 2 years, with much unnecessary pain and fear in between.
Now it¡¦s all over, I am fine. The BXO is slowly going - not as quick as I though it would, but it is going. For me, I would not hesitate to recommend a Circ. There are a lot of guys on this forum who support a Circ, especially when BXO is involved - Damian is a good source of advice and really helped me - and there are many more. There are a few who object, and probably always will. You don¡¦t read many entries on here from Men who have had a Circ in later life and regretted it - 99.9% appear to be well chuffed. I have "heard of" them but not read anything from any of the Men who suggest a loss of function and sensitivity having been Circ'd as infants............
I do not pretend to be an expert ¡V but I have lived the pain and fear, and been under the knife twice. I have had stitches, good, bad and burst. I have had a MASSIVE bleed and a ride in an ambulance. I have had both a local and a General Anaesthetic. I have had Balanitis, Phimosis Frenulum Breve and BXO. I have had a Fenuloplasty and a Circumcism. I have had swelling and scarring, and have learnt a lot about dressings (Thanks again Damian!) what to do and what not to do ¡V and when to do it and not! I have learnt how and when to wash, how to deal with nocturnal erections, and learnt how and when to masturbate and have intercourse. I have lost my inhibitions sufficiently enough to be able to expose my Genitalia to just about anyone that needs to see it, Male or Female. Through my experiences, I can answer the questions of many people who may seek my Opinion or advice.
Many of the objectors to Circumcism have NEVER experienced what I have - I have, and so I can speak with authority. You may not agree with everything I have written here, but if I can help a few scared people along the way, then that what this Forum is all about.
And finally¡K¡K¡Klike I said, I am no expert ¡V I will continue to read, and contribute to this Forum as I have much to offer but still much to learn ¡V I am after all still healing myself¡K¡K¡K..
For the benefit of readers, I am now 41 and live in Berkshire, England ¡V and through all this have managed to father a healthy baby ¡V born on the 4th of July.
