It's early days yet. You probably are looking at a period of one to two weeks before things really start to calm down. Erections really make the stitches earn their money. I tried ice packs when I got circ'd, but found they didn't really work for me. I would get up and walk the erections off. You should find that they get a lot better the second week after surgery (at least they did for me).

Swelling does fade but it takes time. However, if you are concerned see your Doctor or the surgeon and ask them about it. In the meantime check out my circumcision faq. There may be some questions (that I had afterwards) that I have answered that may help.
