Now that I have gotten the cream (beta methasone), how do I start?

I finally mustered up some courage, and went to see a Dermatologist to discuss my phimosis. I went into the Doctors office and explained my problem to hm. He said to me, drop your pants and show me your penis. My heart must have skipped about 3 beats, before i finally attempted to release my Zipper. Anyway, I showed him My Penis (I dont know if its me or what, but today my penis seems to be smaller than any other day I have looked at it)

After a quick look, the dermatologist asked me to pull my pants up and have a seat. Sure enough, he told me that the best way to rectify my problem was to do the dreaded CRIC! Aparrently, he is circumcised as well! I explained to him why i didnt want to take this route, and showed him some printed material I had on the use of Beta Methasone cream to treat Phimosis. This doctor knows nothing about Phimosis. then again he is a dermatologist.

He wrote me a prescription for BETNOVATE cream (as Bethamethasone Valerate 0.1% w/w) My question: how different is this from Betha Methasone 0.5%?

My other question is: the lable on the cream says "apply to affected area 3 times daily for one week (use sparingly). would it be ok for me to use this cream over a one month period, and not 1 week as instructed? Also, how do I apply it to the foreskin?
