re: feeling groggy:

Make sure you tell the doctor that his abuse of anesthetic (local anesthetic is more than enough for a circumcision) resulted in you feeling groggy for a few days unnecessarily. He should know that his lack of confidence in his ability to perform a 30 minute operation inside the limits of a local anesthetic result in inferior recovery for the patient. (The argument most often given for a general anesthetic is that it gives the doctor more time to perform the op).

As far as your healing, Aj had it right. You will probably also have some ugly swelling and "multicoloured" penis for the first week. I found that dipping the penis in a glass full of iced water (with some salt in it) for about 10-15 minutes helped to reduce the swelling quite a bit. (yeah, it gets very small from being so cold :-( (you can figure out how do do this, but think "push up").

As far as your stitches, self disolving is OK. However, as soon as you feel comfortable, you can try to remove them yourself to make sure that remnants don't stay "lodged" under the skin. (leaving little holes after it has healed).

Within about 10 days, you will start to see significant improvements with it quickly becoming normal looking.
