Sounds great! But use a very sharp drill and a low speed.
If you have a good drill press, you could however use the wad punch safely (motor turned off).
The specific reason I suggest the punch rather than the drill, is to make the hole as smooth as possible, less likely to retain urine and be difficult to clean. That was all.
