Hi Bob

It sounds as if your foreskin might be beginning to loosen up. The two occasions when stayed back for around five days, lost much of its elasticity, and wouldn't go forward again to cover your glans, could have been mild paraphimosis. This is when the foreskin gets stuck in the neck of the penis below the ridge at the base of the glans, swells up somewhat, looses its elasticity, and produces discomfort or pain. Though there’s a lot on the web about paraphimosis, most of it seems a bit over-alarmed. For balanced takes, see: Paraphimosis: Don’t Panic, and Phimosis and Paraphimosis.

I’ve been able to retract my foreskin fully when soft for as long as I can remember. Hard was a different story, though. It wouldn’t come back to uncover my glans completely, and stopped about three quarters of the way down. If I did pull it all the way back, or someone else did this for me, it was uncomfortable getting the thing to go forwards again, though if I ever had even mild paraphimosis it was so mild I didn’t notice.

Eventually, I got enough information to realise I’d probably be able to stretch the thing myself, though I wasn’t very systematic – probably because I was trying to work this out on my own and it took me a while to find effective ways of stretching. In all, it probably took me almost a year and a half, though someone who went at it more diligently and with more confidence of eventual success might find it took only three or four months. See: Stretching.

There are other options - betamethasone cream seems to speed up the stretching process considerably - and there are surgical options too – dorsal slit for instance, which seems not a bad idea if you’re in a hurry, or circumcision, which I have to say doesn’t attract me at all. If you’re not in a rush, give stretching a go. The method I used involves a lot of masturbation, but that shouldn’t be a problem, unless, maybe, you’re in the military. Also, have a look at Beaugé.

If stretching works for you the way it worked for me, you’ll find whole new dimensions of sexual sensation you didn’t suspect before. It’s amazing. I’m still amazed. It’s as if you become a connoisseur of sexual pleasure rather than a compulsive. Plus my erections seem much harder.

Hope it works out for you. Cheers,
