>A couple of weeks ago, while having sex with my girlfriend I had my foreskin tear. The tear was NOT in the frenulum, but next to it, running along the base of the glans for about 3/4 an inch. We had been having sex for about a week and a half before hand. Before that I was a virgin. (I'm not circumcised if that wasn't clear, and my foreskin is fairly long if that matters) It quickly stopped bleeding and the doctor I went to assured me that it didn't need to be stitched, that this was common, and that it probably wouldn't happen again, but to use lubrication just to make sure. It healed in about a week with basically no scaring (thankfully).
>Since I was kind of scared about it happening again, I started searching the internet looking for information about skin tears and stumbled onto a lot of information about frenulum breve. I don't think I have this condition, but part of me is afraid that it could somehow be related to a tear next to the frenulum.
>What confuses me is what exactly is meant by "fully retracting the foreskin" and exactly how long the frenulum is supposed to be normally. (Some good pictures of what's normal and what's breve would do a lot for this site BTW.) I can retract my foreskin fully off of the glans without any difficulty. When erect the frenulum does not pull the foreskin back over the glans. I can pull the foreskin a good ways down the shaft, also without difficulty. After a point, however, I can't pull the foreskin any further down the shaft and pulling puts pressure on the frenulum.
>What exactly constitutes normal here? (or more accurately what is a problem and what isn't?) How far are you supposed to be able to pull the foreskin back? Should you be able to pull it all the way down the shaft without ever putting pressure on the frenulum?
>I hoping that you all are going to tell me that I don't have frenulum breve. If that is the case and anyone could tell me about other skin tears during sex, why they happen and what to do to prevent them, I would really appreciate it.
>thanks,

Your description of movement definitely rules out frenulum breve. You just got a little too agressive. Follow the doctor's advice and be sure everything is well lubricated.

The amount of retractablity that you have is well above normal. Nothing to worry about.
