As much as a full circumcision does.
The procedures performed on newborns generally avoid stitches in favour of crushing the skin surfaces together. This is effective and adequate for two reasons, one that the newborn has much faster healing than at any other time, and the other that the area is so small and the lack of strong erections and deliberate manual (hand) interference. When older, the force of erections and other activities would tend to pull the edges apart before healing could take place, so stitches are used.
