Okay so I've been to the doctor - it wasn't as bad as I thought! My glans isn't sore any more, so it was probably irritated due to my antics.
So, the best resolution that he suggested for my phimosis (mines is real tight, like I've never seen my glans!)...circumcision.
I hate to sound impatient, but with the tightness of my phimosis, I would probably be stretching for an eternity. I discussed this with him and he thought that being circumcised would be the best option for my case. My inability to retract my glans can lead to other problems as we all know, and I need this to be fixed soon.
I've decided that I will indeed go with the surgical option. Yes, this isn't what I said a few posts back - in fact I was not keen on the idea of being cut at all. Eeep! I sound like I can't make my mind up, but I assure you, I have given this long thought, and talked to others about it. I need to have my glans exposed, becuase I just can't go on with things as they are. I think I might have a tight frenulum too, so surgery should fix that up.
I'm going to be finished up my degree in a few days (aaaarrgh!) and then in a few weeks after that, it's surgery time. My brother in law was recently circed, and he was telling me about his experiences. It sounds not very nice, but he is more than happy with his results. I need to get this fixed and I am finally doing so.
I'll let you know how things progress.
>> Well I'm going to see my doctor this week - for 2 reasons. I want to see what he has to say,
>That is, I think, a good approach, to "see what he has to say". Then you assess his proposals against your requirements, as much to see how appropriate they are as anything else. A doctor who tells you what you must do is much less likely to be correct than one who tells you what he thinks you should do!
>> I'm not sure what has happened, but my glans is definitely slightly irritated.
>Perhaps due to unaccustomed manipulation? I (naturally) see no harm in discussing this with him. If he feels it is irritation from manipulation, no problem, that will pass. If he feels it may be some infection due to such irritation, then he will suggest some medication (there is some slight risk that any given medication will actually provoke further irritation, and thus some reason for caution - topical antibiotics other than antifungals and povidone-iodine should not be used on the glans, and particularly not the "-sporin" or "-myxin" types). If he felt it was an STD, then treatment would follow accordingly.
>> Well, phimosis I could wait a while to fix, but if there's anything else wrong I'm not waiting about any longer.
>Fair enough.
>We know you will, but you must tell us what he says! (;-)
