Now that's better than I can do (yet!) but on the other hand I'm surprised to see you talk about the sensitivity of the head.
I will assume that you were, and are, able to retract it while soft.
Don't know if this will help you but now that I'm able to retract it when soft and leave it like that, well I being doing it for 2 days now and I've found that the head has become densitized to the uncomfortableness of the air and clothes on it.
Especially today, the 2nd day - really happy about this. This happened much faster than expected.
Ok, prior to the 2 days, I guess there was close to a week of baby steps where I would leave it retracted while pissing or for a some minutes in the shower.Anyway hope this helps.
