Written by John at 20 May 2002 17:16:26: Post-circumcision loss of sensation
Owing to a diagnosis of phimosis and to resolve a persistent lesion under my foreskin (that, thankfully, was non-cancerous), I opted for circumcision about two months ago. My immediate recovery was challenging, to say the least, but now everything seems to be healed just fine. I am worried, however, that the newly exposed head seems to lack feeling. For example the first time I had intercourse (after feeling well enough to do so), I literally could not feel myself penetrate the vaginal cavity. Also, when urinating or ejaculating, I seem to lack some sensitivity, or perhaps it's that the meatus won't dilate fully, but in either case, the sensation is markedly less than before I was circumcised.
My questions are, 1. have others experienced this loss of sensation, and is it temporary? 2. Are there steps I can take to reintroduce sensitivity? 3. Has anyone had "meatus dilation" and did it hurt like hell?
I remain confident I did the right thing to overcome the prospect of penile cancer, but am looking for others with similar experiences. Thanks!
Direct responses are appreciated.
