If you have enough length, just about anything which is smooth and unbreakable that will fit into the opening will work. Maybe a wine bottle cork would work. Better yet, go to the local building supply store and pick up a bottle stopper. They're usually made of rubber and are somewhat tapered like a cork, so you can put the large side in first to lock the skin over it. Lube it up before inserting.
