Lay off Spyros. His analysis was quite on the nail as you already realised, and does not require further inspection of his motives.

Of course he is somewhat disturbed that he had an operation that he now knows in retrospect given "new" information, was unnecessary and that a better result could have been achieved, but he has openly admitted that already, which is far more sensible than many others here. I suggest you make a point of considering him an ally.
