"Classic"? Why "Classic"?

There must be something to cause this to happen at the age of 42, when all was well before. Is that what you have concluded, and what did you decide might be the culprit? What did the doctors say?

In general, this suggests some development of fibrosis (essentially, low-grade scarring) as a result of inflammation, and the inflammation is most likely the consequence of chronic candidiasis, though there may be various other causes.

As such, the treatment of the inflammation and reversal of the fibrosis is to use a steroid ointment as you will not many suggest for an aid to stretching whatever the cause of the problem and at whatever stage. If however, there is a more basic cause such as candidiasis, then a specific treatment is indicated, an imidazole such as clotrimazole (Canesten) or miconazole (Daktarin) in the case of candidiasis. And in fact, if such a treatment is effective in removing the cause of the problem, then the steroid may not be necessary - though it will still help - make the job (of stretching) easier.

And in turn, candidiasis must raise the question of diabetes, so I trust you have had your blood sugar checked a couple of times?
