I thought this had been explained, but here goes again.
As you stretch your skin, you are creating little gaps between the existing skin cells. New ones don't grow overnight, so you have to continue applying tension in order to give them time to grow.
During the course of your stretching, you'll also come to plateaus, at which time, you'll think no more progress can be made. This is a time when the skin has been stretched to its present limit and needs time to build new cells. Continue the tension, and be patient. Once the new cells have filled in, you can again start getting results.
Have you ever engaged in weight training? You do know about the rule not to work most muscles groups on a daily basis, right? They need time to recover from the damage you have done to them. It's a similar principle that the muscles are using to grow. You tear them apart with the exertion, and the let them rest to recover, and they'll respond by growing. In the case of skin expansion, when you get to those plateaus, you just keep a steady slight pull on the skin, and it will recover. Does this make sense to you?
