I think it would be OK for you to try some gentle stretching yourself. Your body will soon warn you if you do anything that's likely to cause damage.
If you wanted to build cardio-vascualr fitness, you'd take up running. If you wanted to build muscle, you'd do circuits, or go to the gym. You probably don't need to ask a doctor for advice on this. So long as you take things progressively, it should be the same with your foreskin.
One thing about stretching in the shower is that you could end up spending a lot of time in the shower. Maybe that's no bad thing, though you could find that you end up with dry skin on the back of your neck. Stretch in bed, or just after you get up, before you take your shower. And stretch in the shower too. Stretch as often as you can.
Have a look at Beaugé and Stretching Exercises.
There is a useful exercise that is missing from the Stretching Exercises mentioned above.Tube:
Grasp the lower lip of the spout of your foreskin in a pincer like grip, using the thumb and first finger of both hands to form the grip. Pull your foreskin as far forwards as you can. It will form a tube that extends an inch or more beyond the tip of your glans. Maintaining forward tension, pull your hands gently apart so as to spread the tube as wide as you can. Hold this for a minute or so, and then repeat.
