The Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy can certainly be understood in relation to infant circumcision and by those intact individuals who recommend the circumcision of adolescent boys, but I was referring to adults, who are obsessed and fixated by circumcision for themselves. They seem concerned primarily by the appearance of the cut, and much less by sympathetic attention from Doctors, medical personnel or from other people. What prompts their obsession is a mystery to me.
One acquaintance was first circumcised at 55 and again at 58. He reports that sexual pleasure was never so intense or so uninhibited as when he was intact.
Another man of sixty in South Carolina was circumcised following an auto accident. Almost immediately he obsessed on the subject and had a second circumcision after a year. Now he is planning a third cut. Prior to the accident he had never given circumcision a second thought. It is the appearance...the type and look of the cut that fascinates these men, not the attention from other people, though they have broadcast their stories. What gives?
>> There is something else at work in cases such as this, as a "tight" foreskin has nothing to do with it. It is purely irrational behaviour. I'm not sure a psychiatrist could understand the motivation. Shouldn't such behaviour have a medical name?
>Munchausen's syndrome variant - self-mutilation by proxy. By no means is it unknown - take a look!
>Causes? Many and various, but I'd hazard childhood abuse is a pretty constant factor.
>Abuse - of course "RIC" is that too!
