As an answer to: Location of retracted foreskin when flaccid written by Stephen at 09 Aug 2002 01:02:45:

A photo like this perhaps?

Perhaps a couple more. I'm not entirely sure exactly how erect or not these are, nor am I sure how much it matters, as I think they give you a fair idea anyway. In many cases, if flaccid, the foreskin simply slips forward by itself (this is what the fraenulum appears to be for) and won't stay retracted. The point is as both Jim and Ralesk have said, it just doesn't matter.

> while certain website articles I have read seem to suggest that this is incorrect,

"incorrect"? As applied to such a bodily function, this term is somewhat absurd. It equates to discussion of "correct" skin or eye or hair colour, or "correct" shape of ears (whether the little bit at the bottom joins straight into the side of the head, or whether it hangs down below the join), or "correct" shape of breasts (I'm sure you have a fair idea of the options).

The closest one can come to such a discussion in this regard is to discuss that if the foreskin sits in a particular fashion, it might be considered more or less convenient for a particular activity, such as peeing, masturbating, oral sex or intercourse (did I forget something?). And that will depend greatly on each person's technique of doing each of these things, which is why "correct" is so relative.

I feel it is fair to state though, that the thing that is really incorrect, is circumcision, because that definitely restricts your options, but that said, if you do have a foreskin, be glad, be proud (yes, you definitely have something of which to be proud, if only the intelligence of your good parents), and just go forth and given the right time and place, put it to best use - to find out which best use you will perhaps need to experiment. {;-)}

> and the foreskin should in fact "stack" (for want of a better word) near the base of the shaft when retracted.

This might happen with a very lax foreskin, or perhaps with one of a particular stretch profile, as a sock bunches up depending on its weave, but I must observe, is neither particularly special nor desirable. With a flaccid penis, the foreskin might just as likely bunch up along the whole length of the penis if it stays back at all.

Now if you are talking of appearance, this is absolutely subjective, like your preference for girls' hair - long, short, or shaved. I know what I prefer, and I think it coincides with most men, but should someone happen to prefer the very opposite - who would I be to criticise?

> Thanks a lot - I think I might be getting paranoid and asking lots of questions! :)

Perhaps to the extent that it suggests you are unhappy with yourself. But particularly being intact - the nicest description we can find to date, you have no reason to be unhappy. Oh, and if you think girls are concerned about the appearance of your penis in this condition - well, how would they ever see it?
