Additionally, if you want to help your foreskin move over your knob I would suggest using a bit of Parogen or maybe some Astroglide from your local sex shoppe to help it in its movements.
As for the smegma, so it's there. It won't hurt anything. All penises make it, even the cut ones (it gets rubbed off in their knickers). When you are able, wash away what you can with clear water and don't worry about the rest.
