As an answer to: To be sure written by Paul B. at 19 Aug 2002 14:15:02:
Please answer for real. Are you a real doctor? Yes or No. Why don't you answer???
>> I am nearly 18 years old and for as long as I can remember I have never been able to retract my foreskin.
>You were never taught as a child that it should be pulled back, that is the problem. How far back, and what do you remember about it?
>> I'm not sure whether or not it is Phimosis but I'm sure it must be.
>You'd be right.
>> I get "ballooning" when I go to the toilet and although neither this or not being able to retract the foreskin are uncomftable/ painful,
>They rarely are. Some people panic about the "ballooning", but unless it actually slows down the rate at which you pee, as indicated by causing discomfort, it is not harmful. By the way, does it balloon all the way back to behind the head, except where the fraenulum is on the underneath? This indicates whether it is all separated from the penis head.
>Obviously, you masturbate (well, you might not, but it would be pretty uncommon). Your glans (penis head) will be quite sensitive underneath, since it is so well protected. Some people, as you will observe from the discussions here, call this "over"-sensitivity but I suggest to you that it has not harmed you or inhibited you so far, so you should not consider it such. I just wish you to be aware of it from the outset.
>> I would like to be able to retract it.
>Very sensible.
>> I've read about certain 'Stretching' techniques which can be used to help but I'm not sure if my condition counts.
>And I'm not sure what you are meaning by your condition "counting". You have a tight foreskin - very tight in fact. Stretching is the procedure of making the opening bigger. You are therefore a perfect candidate for stretching, as long as you realise it means performing a procedure regularly (at least daily, preferably two or three times) over a period of some time, possibly a few months. Offset against that is the reward of seeing it change toward the eventual goal, an easily retracting foreskin. Note - it is possible, and it will require a bit of work. We would hope to make the "work" pleasant and rewarding however.
>> It seems to me that the hole of my foreskin is just simply not big enough for the penis to fit through...
>It most certainly looks that way! So, you have to make the hole bigger, and then bigger, step by step.
>> I have posted some pictures of what is looks like in its normal state and also when I'm trying to stretch the foreskin over.
>Thanks. I have reproduced them here (so they stay even if you have to take them off your brother's server!)

>OK, you will need some "personal lubricant" - the stuff doctors use a lot for poking around in holes, as doctors do, but which is nowadays sold just about anywhere, for use with condoms and such things(!).
>The first suggestion, is that you find a ball-point pen cap that tapers totally smoothly down to a rounded end. If you have the right one, you should figure that end is about the same size as the hole you see when you stretch your foreskin back in the pictures. This means that using lubricant on it, you can poke the end into that hole and see just how much of the cap you can fit in without hurting yourself.
>Now, you do need a bit of common-sense to do this, and I can't explain every potential problem, but the obvious things are that if you get the pen-cap or whatever you find that is smooth, tapered, and rounded at the end, in the hole, you will be poking at your very sensitive glans (penis head), so you need to have it lubricated so it doesn't rub painfully on the glans as it pokes in, you don't want it to poke into the pee hole in the penis head so it needs to slip to one side as it passes through the foreskin and you probably don't want an erection at the time (but it is still possible), and you will most likely find it better to pull the foreskin, holding it as close to the tight part as possible, forward, away from the glans, to get it in.
>This is the first exercise - to get the pen cap (it must be the right "torpedo" shape) in and through this hole, and to get it further and further in (not necessarily on the first, second or even the third occasion) until it fits all the way in, slipping to one side of your penis head. Remember - nothing I suggest needs to hurt.
>If you want more detail about what I am suggesting and the eventual expected results, just read back (a fair way) through this site forum. I see no reason to explain everything at this point - but if you can do this simple exercise, you are well on the way.
>> I've read about some sort of cream that can be put on ... Does anyone know if this would help or how it would work?
>It does help, but is not essential. It softens the fibrous matrix of the skin, in the same fashion that a pregnant woman's body stretches to fit a baby.
>> Also, is it available over the counter or does it have to be prescribed?
>The most potent ones require a prescription in any country with a reputable medical profession.
>> England, United Kingdom.
>Toodle-pip!
