Panicing and getting scared it your worst enemy. Don't. :]
If it stays there, pull forward -- you succeeded thias time, you'll most probably succeed next time too. No need to be afraid of it.
That the skin stays or slides depends on an amount of different factors. For example how lubricated the things are, etc.Just keep on doing it and don't panic. If the skin stays wherever it stays, pull it back forward: it went there somehow, it has to be able to come back from there.
