mmhmm, normal story :]

» would this affect the chances of stretching being successful?

Nope.

» also, i am psychologically quite scared to expose the glans, it is a bit of a mental hurdle to overcome - i remember the foreskin slipping back once during sex and i couldn't get it back over the glans quick enough!

Oho! We've got something here. Key point to avoid paraphimosis -- the tight foreskin getting caught behind the glans -- is to never panic. You can be sure, that if the foreskin slipped back there, it must be able to go back forward. Also, to this to happen, by your own hands, can only be the result of you not watching out for what you are doing with the stretching. So, simply put, don't pull at it with all your powers :] Also, one of the methods pulls the skin forward and away from the body and stretches it that way. With that method, paraphimosis is perfectly avoidable (we're not pulling the foreskin back), and after the phimosis decreases, one can stop worrying about the paraphimosis.

Any more questions, I'm at your service.
