That's quite ingenious. I suppose you could move up to a quarter, but perhaps something which is cylindrical in shape might be easier to handle.
Visit your local crafts store and pick up some moldable plastic, sometimes known as friendly plastic. This can be molded into what shape and size you need. It's used extensively in foreskin restoration, and the users have found it to be safe.
