Well, your skin is taking a rest. Just keep on stretching and it will follow, but its reactions slowed down for a while. It's like that. Goes faster then slower then faster then slower...
As for the ointments, I know about Betamethasone Ointment, which has proven to be helpful. The use is simple, just use only small amounts on the area you want to stretch, so small that after rubbing it in the skin you don't feel or even less see it.
