Jamie, you are among the first to report of the use of a device to aid in stretching out your tight skin. As expected, the results are even better than those achieved by manual manipulation alone. The constant tension put upon the skin cells gives them no choice but to stretch. The employment of devices is almost universal among those who are in the process of restorting lost foreskin, so it's no surprise to me that you have had your reported results. Skin expansion is a well known and well documented procedure which is also used routinely to help burn victims recover their lost tissue. Devices are sometimes used in the those cases also.
The smegma you are now seeing for the first time is a necessary product of the inner part of the foreskin. Its role is to keep the glan (head) moist. It also serves as a lubricant and protector of the inner parts. Everything inside the skin is meant by nature to remain as internal parts. Uncovering them goes against nature. You can gently wash away any accumulated smegma with clear water if you wish, but don't become fanatical about cleaning for that often leads to yeast infections.
