Bizarrely in this instance (and every instance in fact) I don't see you talking to your friend about his initial insult - at least not in a public forum (though I got the impression from your e-mail you spoke to your loose-lipped friend via e-mail about his behaviour). If you want to play the role of peacemaker, Ralesk, you have to sanction the source and not the victim. Otherwise it's all a bit hyprocritical.
If you want to discuss things further, why not e-mail me?
